Thank You.

In his list of things to do to make 2006 a bit different, Rick Segal suggests that you actually write a Thank You note:

You know, paper, pen, envelope, stamp. It’s fun, nostalgic, and the postal service job you save, might just be your own someday. And memo to Marc Orchant of the Tablet PC Weblog: No, handwriting an email note on a Tablet PC does NOT count.

I actually write Thank You notes. I bought a little box of cards at Staples that have "Thank You" printed in silver on the front that I bought for about $5. At a time when email is often trapped by spam filters, Thank You notes always get through.

When you think to yourself how rarely you hear the words "Thank You", a sincere handwritten note is a powerful message.

And while I'm on the subject, Thank You for reading.

I absolutely agree. There's something special about writing and receiving a handwritten thank you note. To know that people actually care enough to take up pen and paper is rare indeed these days. Besides, it's a joy to choose pretty stationary!
