Rebate hell.

I bought a Netgear wireless router back in April. It was $79.99 with a $50 rebate. I mailed the rebate in on May 15, and prepared to wait the 6-8 weeks as stated on the rebate form. And then I waited. And waited.

On September 1 I called the number on the form, entered my phone number, and was told that my form had been processed on June 15, and my rebate was due to be sent on September 12, which was a little over 12 weeks. I asked to speak to a customer service person to see what was going on.

When I asked about the delay, the customer service person told me I was wrong and that it actually took 8-10 weeks. When I pointed out that it actually seemed to be more like 12 weeks. They again told me I was wrong; it would be 8-10 weeks. Realizing this was going nowhere, I gave up.

So it is now September 18, and I have yet to see my money. Of course there is nobody to complain to. It is unfortunate that Netgear will never know why they have lost a customer - permanently.

I purchased a product in good faith. And even if they chose a third party company to administer their rebates, it is Netgear that gets the blame for their failure.
