12 minutes.

I've previously remarked about the fact that the lifespan of an unprotected Windows PC connected to the Internet is a mere four minutes. Anti-virus firm Sophos now says that an unprotected Windows PC (without either firewall or antivirus protection) stands a 50 per cent chance of infection by a worm after just 12 minutes online.
