Or maybe there is hope.

I spent last evening at my oldest son's high school graduation. As I looked at the collection of students, once children but now young adults, I was amazed at how my son and his friends had changed. The valedictory address, delivered jointly by one male and one female student, was at times humorous, erudite, and poignant. These students were hopeful about the future that awaits them, and that hope was infectious. It was also a tremendous surprise to see a poem written by my son published in the yearbook.

Seeing them last night made me realize that as their generation strives to realize their dreams, there is renewed hope for us all.
